There are drain plugs, but they often get missed. The housing can end up have full of water. The clutches are dry, so the plates will rust together with the drum when wet causing the clutch to not work.

As @Frost mentioned, the parking brake will come on when using brake hold, sometimes with ACC as well as when the car is shut off without putting the car in Park first. You don't necessarily need to use the parking brake for it to engage. The number of Parking Brake problem errors is worrisome though.

Push on the brake pedal with your fingers and note how much free play there is in the pedal. It should move about 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch before it starts to engage the brakes. If the pedal has no free play then it is constantly engaging the brakes, causing them to drag and wear prematurely.

Nov 02, 2016 · now to the problem.. I have a 1977 loadstar 1700 that the turn signals do not work. It has all new lights, new flasher for hazzzards and turn signals. The hazzard lights do blink and work good. I ahve had steering wheel off trying to find the problem if it lays within the tss. When you turn the hazzard ligths on it goes through the tss .
In short, I replaced the factory service brake pads and rotors at 48k due to creaking and squealing. I put Akebono ATC brake pads + gold rotors from AutoZone on. After a couple of weeks the pads started to mate to the rotors) the pedal feel vastly improved and they grab with authority with just the weight of my foot necessary.

I have put a new master cylinder on this truck last year and I put a new hydavac under the running board and bleed the system and they used it for 3 weeks and it started locking up again.
